Cape San Blas has its own worry-free character with miles of shell-strewn shoreline and countless opportunities for quiet adventures.

Cape San Blas is a 17-mile long barrier peninsula, curving around St. Joseph bay offering playful surf and white sand beaches on the gulf side and smooth, shallow water on the bay side. The cape is known for its clear, sometimes blue, sometimes green water and low, gentle surf. Families who vacation on the cape choose this spot for both its beauty and its seclusion. Drag a chair to the beach with a book, throw a line to the surf, or comb the shore for treasures. Scattered with shells, the sand in this quiet paradise is super soft and sparkling white.

Tired of relaxing? Peddle, walk or jog along loggerhead run bike trail for a different view. Browse through eclectic beach stores, cool off with some ice cream or grab a few pounds of bay shrimp to steam while you watch the sun go down.

Looking for something more adventurous? Local outfitters will get you rigged. Horseback riding is available on the beach and guided tours are offered daily. Canoe, kayak and sailboat rentals are available as well as diving, snorkeling and eco-excursions.

Take the time to explore the bay. Wade through grassy flats, kayak with your kids and glide above two feet of water for miles. The clear, shallow water offers hours of safe play and discovery for little ones as well as adults. Sand dollars, starfish, scallops and schools of colorful fish are fun to find... Ten times more fun with a snorkel and mask!

With miles of sugar-white sand beaches, striking coastal dune formations, nature trails, picnic areas, playground, 119 family camp sites, youth camping area, boat ramp, 1,900 acre wilderness preserve and more... It’s not hard to imagine why.

Hiking, walking and nature viewing is enjoyable on the two nature trails and 14 mile hiking trail through the wilderness preserve for you to explore and observe the various wildlife and plant communities. Many varieties of birds, mammals, and plants inhabit the park. White-tailed deer are the most observed, but bobcats, raccoons, otters and alligators can be seen.

The excellent fishing opportunities for sea trout, redfish, flounder, pompano and whiting attract many fishermen to the area. Come during scallop season (July 1 - September 24) and catch your own bay scallops; it is great family fun and our bay scallops are some of the most delicious things you will ever eat!

If you want to relax and do nothing, check out Eagle Harbor. It is a popular hang-out area of the park with boat launch, small store with essentials, water toy rentals like kayaks, and one of the coolest viewpoints in all of Gulf County! Walk up the boardwalk and take in the 360-degree view of St. Joseph bay on one side and the clear waters of the Gulf beach on the other side. Both are great spots to put up your umbrella and let the kids play in the water!
